Have You Been Injured in an Auto Accident?

Posted on 2012-02-14 13:04:45

Automobile Accident Injuries Rehabilitated with Chiropractic Care

An automobile accident can not only do damage to your car, it can also cause injuries to your body. Even a mild car crash can result in injuries, such as whiplash, TMJ pain, and spinal compression, all of which may require rehabilitation and care from our chiropractor. At Advanced Chiropractic Group in Santa Barbara, California, our chiropractors treat automobile accident injuries through various forms of natural and non-invasive therapies.

Santa Barbara Chiropractic Care for Whiplash

Whiplash is a common automobile accident injury that occurs when your neck moves forward then quickly backward. The muscles in the neck stretch and may tear, requiring therapy to help heal. Our chiropractors can help treat whiplash using various treatment methods, such as ultrasound which can help reduce inflammation and pain. We will work with you to heal the cause of the injury and help you get back to your normal life.

Back Pain Treatment Following a Car Crash

Spinal compression, back strains and sprains are also common injuries sustained during an automobile accident. Our chiropractic group offers customized back pain treatments. Back Santa Barbara chiropractors provide automobile accident injuriespain treatments may include any combination of therapies, such as spinal manipulations, massage therapy, traction and ultrasound therapy. Our methods of spinal manipulations and adjustments range from traditional to the Gonstead technique. Talk to our chiropractor about methods that can help your back pain.

Following an accident, mechanical traction may help your spine to heal. The traction helps restore blood flow to your spine and increases the fluids cushioning the joints, which helps to improve mobility.

Therapies to help manage back pain following an accident can also include ultrasound therapy, which reduces soft tissue inflammation in the back and electric muscle stimulation, which can help reduce swelling and stop pain in the area.

Massage Therapy Following an Automobile Accident

Another form of rehabilitation therapy we offer is massage therapy. Trigger points can develop on the muscles following an injury. These trigger points are extremely sensitive and can cause pain. Trigger point massage therapy helps to break up the areas of tension and reduce pain.

How has a chiropractor helped you heal following an automobile accident?

Is Your Lower Back Pain Really Sciatica?

Posted on 2011-10-25 13:39:38

Our Santa Barbara Chiropractors Treats Sciatica

Do you suffer from a recurring shooting pain in your lower back, legs and buttocks? If you do, you may have a chronic pain condition known as sciatica. This pain condition is a symptom of an underlying musculoskeletal disorder, such as a herniated disc. When a disc in the back is our of proper alignment, it may compress nearby nerves. If the sciatic nerve is compressed, you may experience a radiating pain and numbness in your body.

Chiropractic Adjustments Correct the Underlying Cause for Lower Back Pain

Sciatica can seemingly strike out of nowhere, preventing you from living a full and active life. Unfortunately, many medical treatments focus only on your pain symptoms, rather than correcting Santa Barbara back pain treatment for Sciaticathe underlying cause. At our Santa Barbara wellness center, our chiropractors do both, providing long-lasting pain relief by correcting the cause of the pain.

A herniated disc that compresses the sciatic nerve is typically the cause for sciatica pain. An auto accident injury, a slip and fall, or even improperly lifting a heavy object can cause serious trauma to your musculoskeletal system and lead to a herniated disc. Our treatments deliver both immediate and long-term pain relief by using a combination of chiropractic care, physiotherapy and rehabilitation exercises.

Spinal manipulation is a safe and effective back pain treatment that restores alignment to the body. By helping your herniated disc return to its correct position in the spinal column, our chiropractors can relieve pressure on the sciatic nerve. Depending on the severity of nerve compression, regular treatments may be necessary for optimal pain relief.

If you suffer from chronic pain, we know that the last thing you may want to do is physical activity. Regular exercise, however, helps your body release endorphins, which naturally reduces pain. Low-impact activities, like swimming or riding a stationary bike, along with corrective care exercises that build core and muscle strength, can help your body combat the pain and get healthy. Hot and cold treatments at home can also help ease pain by reducing swelling and inflammation.

If you suffer from any of the symptoms mentioned above, call our office to schedule an appointment.

Have you suffered from Sciatica? What treatment offered the most pain relief?
