Here at Advanced Chiropractic Group, we are offering the Activator Technique for chiropractic adjustments. This is a revolutionary way to correct spinal misalignments with minimal discomfort.

Activator Technique History

The Activator Method Chiropractic Technique was pioneered and developed by Dr. Arlan Fuhr in 1967. It is primary used in the United States, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

The Activator Technique is the mostly widely used chiropractic method with more than 70 percent of all chiropractors using this therapeutic intervention as a means of correcting spinal misalignments. In the United States, more than 50 percent of all chiropractors report using the device, according to the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners.

The Activator Technique uses a hand-held medical device to deliver a precise, gentle, pulsing thrust of pressure to the misaligned vertebrae or joint. This helps restore range of motion to the affected joint. It is used to treat back, neck, shoulder and knee pain as well as headaches. It boasts being the first FDA-approved and registered instrument adjustor for chiropractic use that is both cordless and electronic.

To be able to use the Activator Adjustment Instrument, chiropractors must go through a series of practical and written examinations.

Activator Method of Chiropractic Adjustment with our Santa Barbara Chiropractors

Our Santa Barbara chiropractors uses the Activator Adjusting Instrument by Activator Methods to correct spinal and extremity joint misalignments, which reduces pain and restores range of motion. If you are suffering from frequent severe headaches and migraines, back and neck pain or extremity joint pain, the Activator Method of chiropractic adjustment might be right for you.

Our chiropractors are trained in using the Activator Adjustment Instrument to correct joint misalignments. It can be used to treat herniated discs, nerve interference, Sciatica and general back and neck pain as well as shoulder, elbow, knee and wrist injuries.

To determine if you would be a good candidate for the Activator Method, our chiropractors will perform an initial evaluation that includes a physical examination and medical history. If you are a good candidate, our chiropractors will recommend a course of treatment that involves the Activator Method, and possibly other adjustment techniques as well.

During these sessions, the exact locations of your misaligned vertebrae and extremity joints will be determined. Then, the Activator Adjustment Instrument will be used to gently push the joint back into its proper position. When the Activator is activated, you will hear an audible sound as it delivers the pulsing pressure. This method of joint manipulation is safe, effective and side-effect free. Some individuals notice popping, cracking or air entering the joint during the treatment. This is expected and completely normal.

After your treatments, you can proceed with your day as normal. There is no need to rest or recuperate. This treatment can be used in conjunction with other traditional medical treatments. Though, you may want to tell your family doctor that you are receiving chiropractic care.
